Medicine is both an art and a science. As new treatments evolve, they often can be very controversial. This is especially so if one is including natural remedies or multiple remedies or if one is treating the patient based on clinical symptoms instead of relying predominantly on technology and lab testing. Our treatment approach addresses all of these issues. Many patients have found it to be dramatically beneficial and effective for them and there are now two studies that document its effectiveness.

Despite this, all treatment for Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Myalgic Encephalitis is considered controversial. Some physicians do not even believe that these diseases exist. Despite this, many physicians do feel comfortable with and use some or all of our protocol - and this protocol has been applied wholly or in part in thousands of patients successfully.

Any treatment carries an inherent risk. Any one individual, especially people with the medication and chemical sensitivity and diverse biochemical changes seen in these diseases, can experience a potentially severe, life threatening, or even fatal reaction to any component of treatment (although this is true even for taking a baby aspirin). Although we have worked very hard to prevent errors in our program, we cannot absolutely guarantee that there are none. It is possible that one may have an adverse reaction. Some of these are on the instruction sheets that you have been given.

Be aware that you should not get pregnant or drive (especially if sedated) while on this protocol. If you are sedated, it usually means that you need to decrease the amount of sleep medications so that you are sedated only at night time and not during the day.

The major risks of treatment include a risk of liver inflammation from many medications that are in common everyday use. This includes Tylenol and aspirin and on this protocol can include Sporanox, some of the herbals and testosterone in males. Allergic reaction including anaphylaxis and death can occur from almost all treatments for most illnesses. Adverse drug interactions are also possible especially when we combine the number of treatments needed in this protocol. Fortunately, this has been a very uncommon problem in our experience.

It is normal to have some side effects (sometimes disconcerting) when one first starts treatment and adjusts the medications to what feels best.

Combining Sporanox or Diflucan with Seldane, Hismanyl, or Propulcid can result in potentially life-threatening interactions. If Diflucan is combined with Celebrex, the dose of Celebrex should be decreased by one half.

Although usually seen with much higher doses, it is conceivable that vitamin B6 in doses of over 200mg a day for extended periods might cause nerve injury.

Numbness and tingling may be experienced from the use of Flagyl, which, if persists, can progress to a neuropathy.

Elavil and Flexeril have been associated with abnormal heart rhythms and Lidocaine in high dose (or even in low dose in some very susceptible patients) can also be associated with drops in blood pressure or abnormal rhythms as can intravenous magnesium.

There is an enormous list of possible side effects to almost every medication. Even those for aspirin family medications would be extraordinarily scary for most people. With the number of medications that we are using here it is best to presume that any conceivable side effect including heart attack, stroke, or death could possibly occur from them (and this statement could be reasonably made for things like aspirin or thyroid treatment as well).

We have never experienced a side effect that, to our knowledge, has caused the patient any permanent harm with this treatment despite its being used on well over 1000 patients. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee (nor can anybody for any treatment) that no severe side effect will ever occur. Nor can we guarantee that you will not have problems - potentially severe or even fatal. However, in our experience most patients have benefited considerably by this treatment protocol.

Please be sure not to use any treatments (either supplements or prescription) that you may be allergic to or have side effects from. If in doubt, please check with your physician as the program may not have been able to cross-match these against the allergies you've noted. Because of the many different units that are used for doing lab tests internationally and possible confusion in correctly entering this data, it is possible that an incorrect treatment may have been recommended based on the blood tests. Because of this it is important that your physician review the blood tests as well as the recommendations.

Please be sure to review our protocol and your lab tests with your physician as it is possible that a life threatening illness may otherwise be missed that could be treatable.
