Dexadrine is a mild, time release amphetamine that Dr. T often recommends. Provigil is good too, but very expensive, BCBS wouldn't pay for it.
Dexadrine does give me a slight push. It might be enough to get you through an 8 hour work day.

I work part time in the neighborhood, but if I work its very physical and I have to take it easy OR I'll pay dearly.

I wish I could find a desk job. If I could snooze during lunch, I'd be OK.

I tried Provigil and it gave me terrible heart palpitations even on 1/4 of the recommended dose. eeeek! Its like speed or something. My understanding is that when the adrenals are worn out, stimulating them back into overdrive is um, not good. You will eventually crash even harder.

I'm going to ask my doc about the Dexadrine - I've never heard of it as a fatigue treatment. Thanks, allwx.

I actually stopped working for 8 months until I found a doctor that was competent enough to help. I always felt that my family couldn't survive without my paycheck. But you know what, we were just fine. My family wanted me to feel better more than anything.

My thyroid levels tested in the "low-normal" range, so the docs just told me to eat a balanced diet and exercise more. Some even told me it was all in my head and prescribed anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds. No one even mentioned the word adrenal or fatigue. Idiots!

I finally found a doctor that would treat my symptoms instead of my blood work. He has a good understanding of the relationship between the thyroid and the adrenal systems. I'm now in the "high-normal" thyroid range and feeling much much better. That was the beginning of my recovery. I was able to return to work part time, but not full time.

If you can figure out a way to have normal energy levels for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, please let me know ASAP. I'd love to make a decent paycheck again ;)

When I first came down with CFS, I couldn't walk or lift a spoon for for a year. I was going to the University so it was a precarious existence. A yeast infection was found via a yearly girl exam. Within one week after treatment, I was able to walk to class. The biggest help after that was diet and sleep. Buy a juicer. Lots of beet/carrot/lime juice, cabbage, kale, spinach, broccli, wheatgrass, etc.

My symptoms have changed over the years. Brain fog, back pain, and a different kind of exhaustion exists now. I am currently being treated for a high rT3 (thyroid issue) and adrenal exhaustion, I am functioning better. Good enough to keep a job. I take Energy Revitalization with one Bone Health capsule that rids me of pain (but I must take them together to get the benefit). I am still dealing with the yeast. As well, I am still trying to overcome my viral infections which I think are causing my exhaustion. For that, I was on 6 months of Doxycycline that didn't make my lab numbers change but now I can take the Colloidal Silver without issue. In addition, I take Proboost. I am looking into starting Beta Glucan and Ultraceuticals Anti-Viral.

Best Wishes. When you do find something that helps, please share!

Ribose does not cure, but it does give the broken mitochondria the energy to get you going again.

Ribose is normally taken 5 grams (1 scoop) 3X daily until it kicks in, then 2X daily.

If you get heart palpitations with Provigil, dexadrine (amphetamine) will likely do the same.

Adrenal support can help here too. Vitamin B5 (panthenic acid), Vitamin C or there are supplements.
