What's The Best Way to Beat Osteoporosis?
Dear Readers,
With new studies showing that long-term use of osteoporosis medications like Fosamax offer no continuing benefit after five years, people are wondering what to do to improve their bone density.
And a lot of people should wonder. Thirty-five million American women and 17 million men have low bone density, and one out of two women will have an osteoporotic fracture in their lifetime.
The good news is that there are excellent natural treatments that dramatically and safely increase bone density (and health), preventing, slowing and even reversing osteoporosis.
The bad news? Most physicians aren't familiar with those treatments!
Fortunately, knowledge is power. And this week's newsletter provides the knowledge you need. Let's start by examining five common beliefs about bone health. I'll tell you which ones are TRUE, and which are myths that have been BUSTED — and the very best strategies for building bone.
Love & blessings,
Dr. T

Bone-Building Drug 5x More Effective — With Vitamin D
Researchers at Weill Cornell Medical College have discovered the secret of maximizing the bone-building power of osteoporosis drugs (i.e., bisphosphonates): Make sure you're not deficient in vitamin D!
The Shocking Truth About Calcium Supplements
Many experts on bone health (the non-holistic ones) recommend taking 1,200-1,500 mg of supplemental calcium every day. So why did I include only 100 mg of it in my formula for the Energy Revitalization System?
Because I've always suspected that high levels of supplemental calcium are counterproductive, and may damage health — and that many other nutrients are far more important for protecting and building bone. Recent research confirms that my "suspicions" are turning out to be hard facts — with calcium supplements increasing heart attack risk. The good news? Adding vitamins D & K and magnesium can turn calcium heart-healthy.
Take the "Purple Pill" — and Break a Hip
Researchers studied nearly 80,000 postmenopausal women who took proton pump inhibitors ("PPI") for two years or more (PPI's are acid-blocking drugs for heartburn, like the "Purple Pill™" Nexium, Prilosec, or Prevacid). They found the women taking PPI were 36% more likely to suffer a hip fracture.

Special Announcement
A Great New Website Called "Cure Together"
I want to introduce you to another excellent tool for better health: the website Cure Together (www.curetogether.com). It empowers the public by allowing them to vote on what has (and what hasn't) worked best for them for many conditions. And they do a superb job compiling and presenting the information. Interestingly, one of my favorite health coaches, Bren Jacobson, came up with a similar idea 20 years ago, and our foundation recently offered him a grant to make it happen. But the Cure Together folks beat us to it! (I guess this saves us a lot of work!)
To see what people have found most helpful for more than 500 conditions (including CFS and fibromyalgia), I invite you to visit their site to sign up (it's free). Then go to the conditions you have and fill out the surveys. The symptom surveys are optional. But please go to the treatment surveys, and vote on the treatments you tried.
A few tips: You don't have to click "no" for each treatment you did not try. Just rate the ones you did. (After you register, you'll receive a simple confirmation email that you have to respond to in order to start using the site.)
The "SHINE Protocol — Dr. Teitelbaum" has just been added to the list, and I invite you to also rate that one along with the others you may have tried.
This is a great opportunity for all of us to work together to teach each other!
Love & blessings,
Dr. T

The Human Energy Crisis — a New DVD by Dr. T
Effective Treatment for Fatigue, Pain, CFS and Fibromyalgia
This one-hour DVD provides a 75-slide PowerPoint presentation with me discussing chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. I explain what causes these illnesses, and how to make them go away! I also review common causes of pain (e.g., migraines, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and nerve pain) and offer powerful, effective natural options to treat these as well.
CFS and fibromyalgia represent an energy crisis, causing people to "blow a fuse" (called the hypothalamus). This causes body-wide problems. The DVD presents a detailed explanation of my proven S.H.I.N.E. treatment protocol (Sleep, Hormones, Infections, Nutrition, and Exercise as able) — which in a published placebo-controlled study resulted in 90% of people with CFS/FMS improving, with a 91% average increase in quality of life!
By the end of the DVD you will know what you need to do to get your life back!

Success Story
Letter From Reader
Jean H sent the following letter to me to share how her health has improved after following my treatment approach.
Dear Dr. Teitelbaum:
Reconnecting with you via your website this year has been a blessing and joy for me. I had a personal consultation with you in 2001 and went on your treatment protocol. I was one of the success stories that you have been instrumental in creating in lives of most of those that you have touched.
