Osteoporosis

Dear Reader,

Loss of bone density, called "osteopenia" when mild and "osteoporosis" when severe, is becoming more and more common as our population ages and becomes more sedentary. Ten million older Americans have osteoporosis, and an estimated 1.5 million experience fractures related to osteoporosis every year. It is also often seen in young people with Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia or pain. Although drug companies mostly promote expensive (and sometimes toxic) medications to both patients and physicians, the good news is that simple, safe and cheap natural remedies are even MORE effective than medications! It is easy to treat osteoporosis safely, effectively, and naturally! Read more »

RESEARCH BRIEFS

What's an Optimal Vitamin D Intake?

Having an RDA of 400 IU for Vitamin D is a great example of when RDA should stand for "Ridiculous Dietary Allowances." Vitamin D deficiency is estimated to contribute to over 85,000 excess cancer deaths a year in the US, in addition to osteoporosis, high blood pressure and much more. This is discussed in depth in the most recent edition of From Fatigued to Fantastic! As 90% of our vitamin D comes from sunshine, a more reasonable RDA for vitamin D is 1000 IU a day, and in many 3,000-4,000 IU/day is optimal. So repeat 3 times: "Avoid sunburn, not sunshine!" How to Help for the Holidays

People often want to give help during the holidays and otherwise, but do not know how. I have worked on eliminating world hunger for over 30 years, and Vitamin Angels is one of the most powerfully effective groups I've seen (www.VitaminAngels.org, Phone: 805-564-8400). Even a few dollars donated will result in enormous good. In addition, I've found that helping others seems to result in even more help coming to us (try it ;-). Read more »

How NOT to Help for the Holidays

Give Yourself the Gift of Health for the Holidays

CFS/FMS is an "Energy Crisis" which can be caused by any of a number of infections, stresses, or injuries. It causes a master circuit (called the hypothalamus — which controls sleep and hormones) to decrease its function — just like blowing a fuse/circuit breaker in a house. These are the 5 key areas that need to be treated for your "circuit breaker to turn back on" and for fatigue and pain to resolve. Read more »

Increase Your Sex Drive by Using Dial Soap?

Many chemicals in our environment disrupt hormone function (called endocrine disrupters). This is one reason why hormonal deficiencies (often with normal blood tests ) are increasingly common. In the case of the chemical used as the disinfectant in many deodorant soaps, a recent study shows it actually increases testosterone (and therefore likely sex drive). Read more »

QUOTE/JOKE OF THE WEEK

Grumpy Old Men

While on a road trip, an elderly couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch. After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant and resumed their trip.

When leaving, the elderly woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table and she didn't miss them until they had been driving about twenty minutes. By then, to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance before they could find a place to turn around in order to return to the restaurant to retrieve her glasses.

All the way back, the elderly husband became the classic grouchy old man. He fussed and complained and scolded his wife relentlessly during the entire return drive. The more he chided her, the more agitated he became. He just wouldn't let up one minute.

To her relief, they finally arrived at the restaurant. As the woman got out of the car and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses, the old geezer yelled to her, "While you're in there, you might as well get my hat and the credit card."

We thank Debbie G for this week's joke. She wins a free bottle of Corvalen (Ribose) or Energy Revitalization System vitamin powder.

We invite you to send in your favorite jokes or quotes.
