Overweight People Live Longer! Plus, 6 Medical Myths Busted

Medical Myth Busting

The truth? Do the things that feel good, and you may live longer!

Dear Readers,

Sorry for the recent time out I took from writing newsletters last month, but I was finishing up my next exciting book! More on what it will be about in future issues. Meanwhile you’ll love these medical myths we’re going to bust today!

When making the choices needed to optimize health, it is critical to have accurate information. Otherwise, our diet and lifestyle sacrifices, for which we sometimes give up things we enjoy, may kill us instead of helping.

Because of this, I would like to look at common, and simply wrong, medical myths about things we avoid for our health, and then let’s look at what the science really shows. Along the way, you may find you get to enjoy your pleasures again — guilt free!

Let's examine 6 medical myths, along with my "bust" for each of them!

NEW BOOK ANNOUNCEMENT

Mary Shomon’s New Book!

The Menopause Thyroid Solution by Mary Shomon

Mary Shomon is my favorite patient advocate for the millions of people suffering with thyroid disorders. As well over 13 million American women with low thyroid have “normal” TSH thyroid blood testing, and many millions more have other undiagnosed thyroid disorders, this book asks a powerful and important question:

“Could you be one of the millions of women suffering what you think are perimenopausal/menopausal symptoms, but are actually dealing with an undiagnosed thyroid condition?”

As always, Mary’s book is loaded with useful "how to" information that answers this question, while addressing how to treat both the thyroid and menopausal issues. I highly recommend it, and will be writing a review of her book in my next newsletter. This information is so important, though, that I did not want to wait that long to let you know it’s available!

Watch the 90-second video book trailer on YouTube.

You can also visit the book's website.

I highly recommend this book. Stay tuned for my formal book review in our next newsletter.

SPECIAL REPORT

Problems with New Armour Thyroid Formulations?

The new formulations of Armour Thyroid have been problematic for many people. I am now recommending using a compounded pure T4/T3 combination from ITC Pharmacy (physicians can call the prescription in to 888-349-5453) instead of Armour for a number of reasons. I substitute 38 mcg T4/9.5 mcg T3 for each grain (60 mg) of Armour Thyroid, and the equivalent dose for most Armour Thyroid dosing can be supplied in a single capsule. I use ITC Pharmacy because they have exceptional quality control for making thyroid hormone.

Other forms of thyroid found in regular pharmacies offer other alternatives to thyroid. For more on this, I refer you to an excellent article by Mary Shomon, my favorite thyroid patient advocate (see the announcement of her new book above).

QUOTE/JOKE OF THE WEEK

This Week's Quote:

Worry looks around, sorry looks back, and faith looks up.

This Week's 1st Joke:

Do Not Touch!

A supply clerk at the factory was in a panic. A box had been left on the loading dock with this warning printed on it: "Danger! Do Not Touch!"

Management was called and everyone was told to stay clear of the box until it could be analyzed.

When the foreman arrived, he donned safety goggles and gloves and then carefully opened the box.

Inside were 25 signs that read: "Danger! Do Not Touch!"

This Week's 2nd Joke:

The Jewish Talking Dog

Morty visits Dr. Saul, the veterinarian, and says, "My dog has a problem."

Dr. Saul says, "So, tell me about the dog and the problem."

"It's a Jewish dog. His name is Irving and he can talk," says Morty.

"He can talk?" the doubting doctor asks.

"Watch this!" Morty points to the dog and commands: "Irving, Fetch!"

Irving the dog begins to walk toward the door, then turns around and says, "So why are you talking to me like that? You always order me around like I'm nothing. And you only call me when you want something. And then you make me sleep on the floor, with my arthritis. You give me this fahkahkta food with all the salt and fat, and you tell me it's a special diet. It tastes like dreck! YOU should eat it yourself!"

"And do you ever take me for a decent walk? NO, it's out of the house, a short pish, and right back home. Maybe if I could stretch out a little, the sciatica wouldn't kill me so much! I should roll over and play dead for real for all you care!"

Dr. Saul is amazed. "This is remarkable! So, what's the problem?"

Morty says, "He has a hearing problem! I said 'Fetch,' not 'Kvetch'"
